The trio have been raiding my bank account the past couple of weeks with a full hay delivery, 20kg bag of treats (lasts the a fair few months), farrier, and they were also treated to a back session each with a McTimoney practitioner as I wanted them given a good once over (think I need one too at this rate).
I wasn’t sure if I would be able to make it to the East Anglian Shetland Pony Group’s spring show. It was being held at the World Horse Welfare, Snetterton which is quite a drive from Rutland and I wasn’t keen on heading off for a long day on my own.
It all was going so well. I was enjoying the long Platinum Jubilee weekend, being off work Thursday and Friday. I got plenty of jobs done on the Thursday and then on Friday I washed Diva (Melland Queen of Scots) in preparation for Midland Counties Show the following day.
We had our first outing int the new horsebox over the bank holiday weekend, and although I was a bit nervous (despite a test run the day before without a horse) it all went well!
It has been a long winter and a long time since the last show I went to in September 2021 with Diva. This time, however, centre stage was her buddy, Julius Caesar.
The old gal has now turned 24 and still as spritely as ever, Bobs 16th Birthday is not long off either. I treated her to some likits in her tongue twister (wish I didn’t as she gobbled most of both in less than 8 hours and was a bit hyper eeek).
Winding down 2021 a really positive note. I love reflecting over all the years achievements. After the last 2 years of flooded hell to have a dry and warm December, with the beautiful sunny crisp cold mornings makes the dark mornings, and dark nights almost bearable.
It arrived early! The new horse box has arrived hurrah! I spotted it as it was coming up to the crossroads just up from the yard and let out a squeal! We are so pleased with it, and Bob had a good nosey from the field when it was all opened up (the mares seen there was no food and lost immediate interest).
The weather has been up and down of late, to say the least. Rugs on, rugs off. Out at night, back inside. Thankfully, the weather has dried up again and so the horses are staying out.
