Unfortunately being on lock down again due to the weather, then on being let out for the odd day they show their gratitude by trashing as much of the electric fence as possible!

Travelling around with your horse and finding great new trails to explore is one of life’s greatest pleasures but there are always potential problems to be aware of. Take dogs, for instance.

Anyone who has spent time around horses will know they are all different. You don’t need to be a horse whisperer to tell a sociable horse from one that is more aloof. Or a confident horse from one that’s a bit grumpy.

I like to think that I am a practical pony owner. I don’t stress too much about the day-to-day care. I get organised on days when I have an early start and leave feeds and hay ready to save time.

So it feels like forever since I really felt like me and Travis have taken a step forwards. He is a quirky boy and has the patience of a Saint, although still isn’t quite enough to describe what is needed to progress this horse.

It’s definitely time to introduce the new kid on the block. Retired racehorse Lord Ben. I would use the term “Ex-Racer” however this chaps incredible 9 year racing career deserves more recognition and having a flawlessly injury free long term career.

Please someone tell me I am not the only one who has been 100% ready to jack horses in this year. 25 years of riding and 16 years of horse ownership and never have I ever been this fed up.

The weather hasn’t been very kind to us these past few weeks since the move, I think we have had 1 full dry day – let’s hope Spring is on the way with some drier days or the horses may have to learn some Aqua Aerobics!
