Aren’t the nights drawing in and the mornings darker already? I’ve had to dig out my head torch to see the horses in the morning now! Although it has come with some nice experiences.

The Shetland Pony Stud-Book Society (SPS-BS) holds an annual breed show. Its location moves around the country each year. The last show held was in 2019 on Shetland, a trip I will never forget, but we had to leave our ponies behind that time.

Following on from last time I am pleased to say I have spotted a few winged pals in the very early morning light…just at the opposite end of the land to where we put the bat box d’oh! Hopefully they also reside in that area too!

As we are coming to the end of August, so the evenings are starting to draw in. It is this switch in daylight hours – not the cooler temperatures that we may begin to have in the next few weeks – that prompts horses and ponies to begin to change their coats.

Its been a bit hit and miss with the weather by us. Some days its just been overcast and others heavy rain (it seemed to always wait until I finished work, loaded the car and was on my way to the yard before it let rip with the downpours grrrr)!
